The degree of hydrolysis and ionization of water is independent of the concentration of the solution. An example of such salts is \[C{H_3}COON{H_4}\].
The mechanism of formation of such ions are as follows:
\[C{H_3}CO{O^ - } + N{H_4}^ + + {H_2}O \rightleftharpoons C{H_3}COOH + N{H_4}OH\]
The \[pH\]of the aqueous solution of such salts are dented as
\[pH = p{K_a} + p{K_b}\]
That is, the \[pH\] depends on the \[p{K_a}\] and \[p{K_b}\] of the acid and the base, respectively.
Due to the common ion effect, the hydrolysis of both the ions occurs to a greater extent within the presence of every other.
