Hint: It is the largest out of the five rivers that flow through Punjab. The Bhakra Nangal dam which is the largest dam in India was built on this river.

Complete Answer:
- Roopnagar or Ropar lies on one of the banks of River Sutlej. On the other bank of the river lie the foothills of the Shivalik range. The city is located at a height of 260 meters above the sea level.
- The city has a general North Indian climate characterized by dryness, hot summers and cold winters. The monsoon season arrives with the south west winds in late June and lasts until the end of September. Though the place has a relatively dry climate, in monsoon season it's humidity increases as high as 70%. The temperatures in this place ranges from 41°C during the summers to 1°C in the winters.
- This ancient city was founded and named by King Rokeshar, who ruled in this area during the 11th century. He named the city after his son, whose name was Rup Sen. It was one of the important sites of the Indus Valley civilizations. There are excavations in the city which reveal the sequence of culture and events from the Harappan civilization to the medieval period.
- The city of Ropar has a man-made freshwater lake, known as the Ropar Wetland or the Ropar Lake. The lake was formed consequently with the construction of a regulator on river Sutlej.

Hence the correct answer is option (A) Sutlej.

Note: Currently, there is a proposal for building a 214km long irrigation canal to connect the rivers Yamuna and Sutlej. It would be called the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL), which on completion will enable inland shipping from the west coast to the east coast of India.
