Hint: The male reproductive system of cockroach consist of a pair of testes, vas deferens, Ejaculatory duct, mushroom gland, phallic gland and the external genitalia.
Complete Answer:
The male reproductive system consist of
1. A pair of testes- The three lobed testes lies dorsolaterally in the 4th and 5th segment. The sperms are produced by the testes. It is well developed in young cockroaches and is full of sperms.
2. Vas deferens- it is a thread like structure from the testes. The threads meet in the middle of the abdomen at the ejaculatory duct.
3. Ejaculatory duct- It is present in the abdomen and opens out by male gonopore located ventral to anus.
4. Mushroom gland- It is the large accessory reproductive gland.
5. Seminal vesicle- The mushroom gland form seminal vesicles filled with sperms. It is the store house of sperm.
6. Phallic gland- It is a long club shaped accessory gland. It opens out in the hind region of male gonopore.
7. External genitalia – these are chitinous structures found surrounding the male gonopore.
The correct answer is (B). In male cockroaches, sperms are stored in seminal vesicles.
Additional Information: The testes become non-functional and degenerate in the old cockroaches. But it contains some sperms in them.
Note: The sperm are produced from the testes and is brought to seminal vesicles for storage. The perms in the vesicles stick together in bundles called spermatophores which are discharged by male during copulation.
