In Indian history, the period of 1975 – 1976 is known as the emergency period regarding democratic rights. This national emergency came into effect from 25 June 1975 to 21 March 1977 under article 352. This emergency was operated in the whole country because during that time both the social and the economical conditions of India were not strong. So the government officers were not given their salary, the tax rate was increased and there was a large fee spike in schools and colleges. All this made the people go against Indira Gandhi and chaos and strikes were going in many parts of the country which leads to the situation where emergency was the only option.
 During the duration of the emergency, the whole country became a prison. No one was free to act according to themselves. Those who were speaking against the Government were sent into prison, the freedom of people was snatched from them and left the people of the country with nothing. After the completion of the 21 months of emergency, fresh elections were held in India and after the selection of the new Prime Minister the conditions of the country improved and again we got a Democratic country.
