Hint: In order to solve the question, first we will let the common ratio be ‘x’. then the numbers of students studying arts, commerce and science will be 3x, 5x and 8x respectively. Then we will find the increase in the number of students of arts, commerce and science and find the new required ration of the number of students studying arts, commerce and science. In this way we will get the required ratio after the increase in the number of students.

Complete step-by-step solution:
We have given that,
In a JRC one day camp, 150gm of rice and 15ml oil are needed for a student.
For one student,
Quantity of rice needed = $150gm$
Quantity of oil needed = $15ml$
Total number of students = $40$
Therefore,
Quantity of rice needed for 40 students = multiplication of quantity of rice needed by 1 student and the total number of students.
Quantity of rice needed for 40 students = \[150gm\times 40=6000gm=6kg\]
Now,
Quantity of oil needed for 40 students = multiplication of quantity of oil needed by 1 student and the total number of students.
Quantity of rice needed for 40 students = \[15ml\times 40=600ml\]

Thus, In a one day JRC camp, 6000gm (6kg) of rice and 600ml of oil is required for the 40 students.

Note: While solving these types of questions, students need to remember the unitary method. For unitary methods, we have to find the quantity or the amount needed by 1 student or sometimes it is given in the question and then multiply it by the quantity provided that is to be found. They should be very careful while doing calculations to avoid making errors.
