Complete answer: Kavaratti is the capital of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. It is located in the Arabian Sea about 400km away from Kochi on the mainland.
Lakshadweep is an archipelago housing hundreds of small islands part of India administered as a Union territory. There are references to these islands from the first century itself ruled over by the major empires in southern India as Cholas and Mysore.
