Hint: For these kinds of questions, we just have to multiply the unit we have with some constant so as to convert it to the unit that we want. Both kg also known as kilograms and pounds are measures of weight. We should know how many pounds would be one kg. If we know how many pounds is one kg, then we can easily find out how many pounds would be $114$kg be. We just have to multiply the quantity we get before and multiply to this.
Complete step by step solution:
For example, we have $10$ cm of thread. We are asked to convert it into millimeters. We know that $1$ centimeter is equal to $10$ millimeters. This is constant. Anywhere we go, $1$ centimeter would be equal to $10$ millimeters. So if we just multiply $10$ to the $10$ centimeters of thread, we would get it’s length in millimeters which is $100$ millimeters.
In the same way, there is a constant to convert kilograms into pounds. It is constant irrespective of where we are.
We know that $1$ kg is equal to $2.204$ pounds. This is our constant. So we just have to multiply this constant with $114$ kilograms to convert it into pounds.
Let us multiply it. Upon doing so, we get the following :
$\Rightarrow 114\times 2.204=251.256$
$\therefore $ Hence, $114$ kg is $251.256$ pounds.
Note: It is very important to remember all the constants for all the conversions. Some important conversions which are required for the exam are meters to centimeters, kilograms to grams, hours to seconds, liters to milliliters etc and vice-versa. We should remember all of these so as to be able to convert and do a sum quickly in the exam. We should be careful while calculating as there is a lot of scope of calculation errors.
