Hint : If anyone is reigning from their position, they can address the resignation letter to either their senior or junior colleague in charge. For example, the President can address his resignation letter to the Vice President.
Complete Answer : If the Speaker of the Lok Sabha shall have to resign then he will address his resignation letter to the Deputy Speaker. There are certain rules made regarding Resignation of seats in the House which are as follows -
1. Members who intend to resign from his seats in the House shall address the speaker and if the speaker shall have to resign then he must address his resignation as the deputy speaker.
If a member hands over the resignation personally to the speaker and the reason is personal and genuine then his resignation must be accepted.
2. If the speaker receives the resignation through post or via someone then an inquiry shall be conducted to know if the resignation is genuine and voluntary.
3. Resignation letter can be withdrawn anytime before it is accepted
4. As soon as the resignation is accepted, the Speaker shall inform the House about it.
After the announcement of resignation by the Speaker, the Secretary General can publish the notification about the vacancy.
The Speaker’s office occupies a pivotal position as it represents the full authority of the House itself. A speaker can only be removed from his position if the house holds a majority over the issue. Both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker are elected from among the members by a majority of voting.
