Hint:Dividing a wire into desired number of parts gives cut pieces of equal length. Which means each cut/divided part of wire will have the same length as of the other parts. To determine the length of the divided part of the wire, formula can be used. Simple division method can be used to determine the length.

Complete step by step solution:
The given length of the wire is $12\dfrac{1}{2}m$
$12\dfrac{1}{2}m$ can also be denoted as 12.5 meters

Length of the wire is = 12.5 meters
Number of pieces the wire is to be cut = 10
Now, if a wire of length (L) is cut into (n) number of equal pieces then the length of each piece is given by (L/n).

According to the question, L = 12.5 meters and n =10
\[\therefore \] The length of each piece is given by = \[\dfrac{{12.5}}{{10}}\] = 1.25
Hence, if a wire of length of 12.5m is cut into 10 equal pieces, the length of each piece of the wire is equal to 1.25m.

Hence, 1.25 meters is the answer.

Note:Students should take a note on which unit is used to measure the length. If the length in the question is mentioned in the meters then the answer should too include meter and not cm or mm.

There is no need to measure all the cut pieces of the wire as the size will always be the same as of other cut parts. Remember, here m stands for meter. If the wire is cut into unequal pieces, then this formula is not applicable and we need additional information to find the length of each piece.
