Hint: In this particular type of question we have to substitute the value of a and b in the required polynomial and thus calculate the value we get after substitution to get the desired answer.

Complete Step-by-Step solution:
a = 2 and b = 3
$ \Rightarrow {a^2} = {2^2} = 4$
$ \Rightarrow ab = a \times b = 2 \times 3 = 6$
Therefore , ${a^2} + ab = 4 + 6 = 10$

Note: These types of questions can be easily done by substitution of the values given in the question . But if the polynomial is of higher degree the calculation becomes difficult, so to make the calculation easier we can take the common term outside like we can write ${a^2} + ab = a\left( {a + b} \right)$ in this particular question.
