Hint:
We will start with a general assumption for the number of cars and then we will express the number of cars owned by each owner in terms of the given known quantity. We will generalise the result and then find the respective answers accordingly.
Complete step by step solution:
It is given that Idris has $c$ toy cars.
Now let us assume that Fadl has $x$ number of toy cars and Baasim has $y$ number of car toys.
It is given that Fadl has twice as many cars as Idris.
Therefore, from the number of cars that Idris has we can write the following:
$x = 2c$ … (1)
Similarly, it is given that Baasim has three more cars than Fadl.
Therefore, we can express the number of cars owned by Baasim in terms of $x$as follows:
$y = x + 3$ … (2)
Now using the equation (1) in equation (2) we can write the following:
$y = \left( {2c} \right) + 3$ … (3)
Therefore, we have expressed all the numbers of toy cars in terms of $c$ .
Therefore, we say that Idris has $c$ cars.
Fadl has $2c$ cars.
Baasim has $2c + 3$ cars.
Note:
It is given that each boy Idris, Fadl, and Baasim has a certain number of cars. We have given one of the quantities of the cars and we have also given the relation between all other numbers of cars. Using the relation, we will express the cars owned by two of the three boys in terms of the remaining one.
