Hint: Ecosystem is defined as the geographical area where land, plants, animals, weather and other living and nonliving organisms work together and influence each other directly or indirectly.
Complete answer:
Human beings on this earth are the most important part of the ecological cycle which helps in maintaining the balance. In today’ scenario human activities have enormous impact on the ecosystem leading to changes in the weather conditions such as global warming, formation of greenhouse gases, untimely rainfall etc. The environment is made up of two components – Biotic including the living organisms such as plants, animals, microorganisms which are dependent on each other for their survival. Another component is abiotic involving the physical environment such as climate, land, temperature, nutrients etc. An ecosystem works in a balanced manner only when there is interaction between both the components, one without another is useless. For example, herbivores animals consume grass for food but they also feed the soil with their dung which helps again the grass to grow making the soil fertile. Thus, this process continues making everything balanced in the environment. Regarding human beings, they help in regulating the services of the ecosystem by planting more and more trees, maintaining a good habitat for a variety of species and a home for a large number of wildlife. Humans make the best use of the vegetation and also work manually for its growth through making the soil fertile, watering, chopping etc. which is a source of living for many.
Therefore, the actions of the human have a great influence on the environment and it should be taken keeping in mind the benefits and losses.
Note: On one hand humans have a positive impact on the ecosystem but on the other hand they have also given negative impact. Excessive cutting down of trees for meeting their own needs has led to deforestation. Trees are home for a large number of birds and animals and also regulates the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Setting up of industries at places where there existed a society of people has led to displacing of the individuals and also contributed to pollution of rivers, air, soil and a home for diseases.
