Hint: Roman numerals are a numeral system that originated in ancient Rome and remained the usual way of writing numbers throughout Europe well into the Late Middle Ages. Numbers in this system are represented by combinations of letters from the Latin alphabet. It is a system of numerical notation based on the ancient Roman system. The symbols of roman numerals are $I,V,X,L,C,D$ and $M$ .
Complete step-by-step solution:
First we find the values of roman numerals and put this in the given question to find the value.
We make a list of the values of the roman numerals
$I \to 1$
$V \to 5$
$X \to 10$
$L \to 50$
$C \to 100$
$D \to 500$
$M \to 1000$
Now we take the question and put the values from the above list and get the result.
As example we take a roman numerals $VII$
Now we find the value of this
We know $I \to 1,V \to 5$ , put this and get the value
$VII = 5 + 1 + 1$
$ \Rightarrow VII = 7$
We take another example $XXVII$
We know $I \to 1,V \to 5,X \to 10$
$\therefore XXVII = 10 + 10 + 5 + 1 + 1$
$ \Rightarrow XXVII = 20 + 5 + 2$
$ \Rightarrow XXVII = 25 + 2$
$ \Rightarrow XXVII = 27$
For large numbers use this method to solve them.
Note: It is a good process to show any number alphabetically. We show only natural numbers by using roman numerals. We now use it in various places like books, page numbers, watches etc. It grows interest in a child's mind when it learns.
