Hint: Solve the expression by separating the like terms at a similar side, replace \[5\] from left side to right side of equation and then simplifying the terms which are in right side of expression then determine the value of unknown quantity \[x\].
As \[5\] is in addition with x on the left side, so when it is shifted to the right side, the positive sign of \[5\] will be changed to negative sign of \[5\].
Apply this concept to solve the expression.
Complete step-by-step solution:
As per information given in the question,
As we have to solve the expression,
Solving the given expression, by separating the like terms at one side,
As here there are two terms one which consists of \[x\] while the other is constant.
So, shifting the \[5\] from left side of equation to the right side of equation, as here \[5\] is in addition with \[x\] in left side so when it will be shifted to right side the positive sign of \[5\] will be changed to negative sign of \[5\].
Hence,
We will get,
\[x=9-5\]
Hence, solving the value of right side of equation,
We will get,
\[x=4\]
Hence, the value of \[x\] in given expression \[x+5=9\], we will get value of \[x\] as \[4\].
Note: When we move any mathematical expression from left to right side or vice versa then the sign of the expression gets reversed.
Like, \[2x+1=2\], if we move \[1\] from left side to right side i.e. after equal to then the positive sign of \[+1\] get converted into negative sign,
Thus, it will equal to \[2x=2-1\]
As \[5\] is in addition with x on the left side, so when it is shifted to the right side, the positive sign of \[5\] will be changed to negative sign of \[5\].
