Given that, $2q+{{q}^{2}}=15$
We shall first transpose the constant term 15 to the left hand side of the equation.
$\Rightarrow {{q}^{2}}+2q-15=0$

For any quadratic equation $a{{x}^{2}}+bx+c=0$,
the sum of the roots $=-\dfrac{b}{a}$ and the product of the roots $=\dfrac{c}{a}$.

We will find numbers by hit and trial whose product is equal to $1\times \left( -15 \right)=-15$ and whose sum is equal to 2.
Such two numbers are 5 and -3 as $-3+5=2$ and $-3\times 5=-15$.
