Hint: Rearrange the terms of the equation by taking the terms containing the variable ‘b’ to the L.H.S. and taking the constant terms to the R.H.S. Now, apply the simple arithmetic operations like: - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, whichever needed, to simplify the equation. Make the coefficient of b equal to 1 and accordingly change the R.H.S to get the answer.

Complete step by step solution:
We have been provided with the equation: $1+2b-13=12-4b-2b$ and we are asked to solve this equation. That means we have to find the value of b.
As we can see that the given equation is a linear equation in one variable which is ‘b’, so taking the terms containing the variable ‘b’ to the L.H.S and the constant terms to the R.H.S, we get,
\[\begin{align}
  & \Rightarrow 2b+4b+2b=-1+13+12 \\
 & \Rightarrow 8b=24 \\
\end{align}\]
Dividing both the sides with 8 we get,
$\Rightarrow b=3$

Hence, the value of b is 3.

Note: One may note that if we will substitute b = 3 in the equation provided and solve both L.H.S and R.H.S then we will see that they are equal. It proves that our answer is correct. Here, only one equation is present, this is because there is only one variable and to find its value a single equation is enough. It is necessary to make the coefficient of b equal to 1 otherwise the answer will be considered incomplete.
