Hint: Basically, we are adding two negative numbers, to avoid confusion take negative signs common from both the numbers out of the parentheses then simply add two numbers present within the parentheses and lastly remove the parentheses.

Complete step by step solution:
We have given $ - 7 + ( - 8)$ ,
Now, open the parentheses , we will get the following ,
$ \Rightarrow - 7 - 8$ (since multiplication of negative and positive sign gives negative)
In order to avoid confusion, take negative sign common from both the numbers out the of the parentheses, we will get the following,
$ \Rightarrow - (7 + 8)$
Now, simply add two numbers present within the parentheses, we will get the following,
$ \Rightarrow - (15)$
Now, remove the parentheses , we will get the following,
$ \Rightarrow - 15$ (since multiplication of negative and positive sign gives negative)
We get the required result.

Note: In order to avoid confusion and to make sure that everybody always arrives at the identical result, mathematicians established a typical order of operations for calculations that involve over one mathematical operation. Arithmetic operations should be dole out within the following order:
1. You must Simplify the given expressions inside parentheses ( ), brackets [ ], braces and fractions bars first.
2. Then you have to evaluate all the powers present in the given expression.
3. Then you have to do all multiplications part first and then the divisions part from left to right direction.
4. Then you have to do all additions and then the subtractions part from left to right direction.
