Hint: Any substance that provides energy to run a machine is known as fuel. It includes coal, oil, wood, gas etc. A fossil is a conserved cast or suspicion on an organism in which full or half mineral deposition took place.
Complete answer:
Fossil fuels are formed by the anaerobic decomposition of plants and animals, buried under tremendous pressure inside the rock beds and sea beds around millions of years ago.
Different measures to conserve fossil fuels are:
-Reducing, Reusing and recycling waste: When we use again and again a waste product, it enhances the product life and minor energy is used for the product to produce while when we recycle a waste product, the energy is used minor when compared with the synthesis of a fine product.
-Conserving energy of electrical appliances: It includes switching of electrical appliances like fans, lights, unplugging the electrical appliances in the ideal state. It decreases the electricity bill and helps in the protection of coal in coal power plants.
-Using public transport: The usage of buses and trains for the purpose of travelling and avoiding personal vehicles. Lesser vehicles on road means lesser petrol and diesel is required to run them.
-Using a renewable source of energy: a renewable source of energy, means that the energy that can be replenished in the gene due to course of time. Using solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy etc. does not require fossil fuels and hence conserves fossil fuels.
Additional information: Fossil fuels are the major source of air pollution and it contains a high percentage of carbon. Petroleum is the most used fossil fuel whereas Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a non –polluting fossil fuel.
Note: Fossil fuels are non-renewable sources of energy and cannot be replenished within a small span of time if depleted. It takes millions of years for the production of fossil fuels.
