The colloidal particles are not easily obtained, it is prepared by many processes in which peptization is one. In peptization, electrolytes are added to stabilize the colloidal particles but the amount of electrolytes becomes very high. So, these extra electrolytes are removed by dialysis in which the colloidal solution is placed in the animal membrane through which the electrolytes are removed from the colloidal solution.
But when the colloidal solution is placed for dialysis for a long time then the useful electrolytes also get removed through the animal membrane because the electrolytes being small particles and the colloidal particles are larger in size that cannot pass through the animal membrane.
Due to this removal of electrolytes, the colloidal particles become unstable and will lead to the process of coagulation.
Note:Coagulation is a process in which the molecules of the colloidal solution combine to form molecules having a larger size. When the dialysis is done by electricity then we call it electrodialysis.
