Complete answer:
The main reasons due to which woolen industry is not doing as well as the cotton industry in our country is because:
India being a tropical country, experiences went for a short span of time because of which the need for wool is limited in the country. The peninsular region of the country does not experience cold. India has low quality wool due to which we have to import the wool. Where the cotton industry of the country is well developed because of the high I consumer rate. India is one of the largest exporters of cotton in the world. The major occupation of the people living here is agriculture and more importantly growing cotton, this place also has the largest thermal power plant in Punjab.
Cotton is a fluffy white coloured fabric which is used to make clothes that are worn during summer season. It is a natural fibre that easily soaks in sweat and does not catch fire easily. Cotton is a biodegradable fibre because of which it does not harm the environment. Around 80% of the cotton is grown in states like Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat.
India also exports cotton to other countries and the production of cotton is rapidly growing here.

Note:
India is the largest producer of cotton in the world. It puts a lot of pressure on the country because cotton requires a great amount of irrigation and good quality fertilizers and pesticides. So, the Government and all the related industries are trying to solve this problem so that it doesn't affect the production of cotton.
