Hint: Air travel is known as the fastest and the most comfortable means of transport. Airplanes have the potential to cross mountains, rivers, deserts, and oceans with ease. Even at the uncertain times of natural calamities, floods, or landslides, people can be easily airlifted and taken to safe destinations.
Step by step solution: Any three reasons for airways, becoming a popular means of transport in modern India are as follows -
1)High Speed-As the hint suggests, we all know that airways are the fastest mode of transport and therefore suitable for the carriage of goods over a long distance. Plus it requires less time, which is always a plus.
2)Quick Service-Air transport provides us with safer, comfortable, efficient and quick transport facilities. For the transportation of perishable goods, there’s no means that exists which is better than airways. Thus, airways are regarded as the most suitable means of transport.
3)Natural Route-Aircraft can easily travel to all the places without any natural obstacles or barriers while avoiding all the hindrances because the custom formalities are compiled very flexibly. It avoids delay in obtaining clearance as well.
Additional information: Air , water, and land transport are different modes of transport. They include Rails or railways, road, and off-road transport. Other modes also exist, such as pipelines, cable transport, and space transport, etc.
Note: In Spite of many advantages, air transport has some disadvantages also. Mentioned below highlights a few of them -
1. Risky-Air transport is the riskiest form of transport because a minor accident may change into loss to the goods, passengers, and the crew. The probability of accidents is higher in comparison to other modes of transport.
2. Very Costly-Air transport is considered costlier in comparison to other means of transport. The operating cost of aero-planes is much higher and involves a costly deal of expenditure for the construction of aerodromes and aircraft. Due to this reason, the fare for air transport is higher. That’s why common people can’t afford it.
3.Small Carrying Capacity-The aircraft have a small carrying capacity because space is less and therefore these are not suitable for carrying bulky and cheaper goods. The load capacity cannot be increased as it is found in the case of trains.
