Hint: Temperate forests are further classified into evergreen and deciduous. There is a wide variety of plant species found in temperate forests. Here, one can find abundant rainfall and thick soil humus. These forests are also known as four-season forests because the climates of the mid-altitude harbor them. As a result, four different seasons are thought to be experienced by all.

Complete answer:
- Temperate forests are of two types. They are temperate evergreen and temperate deciduous.
- Temperate evergreen forests are mainly found in coastal regions where there is mild winter and monsoon climate. These forests are found in mid-latitudes of Canada, Africa, North America and Siberia. There are few tree species like pine, redwood, cedar that inhabit here. Oaks and ferns are also very commonly found.
- Temperate deciduous forests are also called broad-leaf forests. Trees here lose their leaves every year. They can be majorly found in Canada, China, Japan and Europe. It has four distinct seasons which are winter, fall, summer and spring.
- Plants found here are moss, lichen, wildflowers and some other plants. Shrubs filled in hardwood trees are also found here; examples to which are birch, oak, maple and sweet gum.

Note: Temperate forests are said to have the oldest organisms in the world. Comparing the biodiversity of these forests with the tropical one, it is slightly less. However, most temperate forests do have high biodiversity indexes. There are some human activities like mining, hunting, farming and urbanization which have a severe negative impact on this biome, due to which, problems like deforestation, pollution and biodiversity loss is observed.
