Hint: Water is required for the body to function properly, it maintains the body temperature and protects tissues, spinal cords, and joints. It aids in digestion too.
Complete answer:
There are not only four but many reasons why water is necessary in our body.
1. It regulates the body temperature:
Our body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues in order to help regulate the body temperature which is very important as our body loses water through sweat during the physical activities and in hot environments.
Sweat helps to keep the body cool but if the body will not replenish the water, we lose then the body temperature will rise because our body will lose electrolytes and plasma when it’s dehydrated.
If a person is sweating more than usual that means the body is dehydrated and requires more water to function properly.
2. It helps to create saliva:
Saliva includes small amounts of electrolytes, mucus and enzymes and water is the main component of saliva which is essential for breakdown of solid food and to keep our mouth healthy. Our body generally produces enough saliva if there is regular fluid intake but the saliva production decreases as a result of age or some medications.
If your mouth is dry then it must be due to less intake of water or dehydration.
3. It helps to excrete waste through perspiration, urination, and defecation:
The body uses water in order to sweat, urinate and to have bowel movements. There is a requirement of enough water in order to have healthy stool otherwise there will be constipation problems. Also, in order to remove waste fluid from our body, there is a requirement of enough water to urinate.
Kidneys are important for filtering out waste through urination and it requires sufficient water intake for the kidney to work efficiently and helps to prevent the kidney stones.
4. It helps to maximize physical performance:
By drinking plenty of water during the physical activity, it increases the strength, power and endurance. It is essential for athletes to have 6 to 10 percent water of the body weight during the physical activity.
Extreme dehydration causes seizures and even death as if a person is doing exercise in the heat without having sufficient amounts of water then there are serious medical conditions like decreased blood pressure and hyperthermia.
Note: Water plays an important role in the body to function properly which includes- It helps to maintain the body temperature, it helps to excrete waste through perspiration, urination, and defecation, it helps to maximize physical performance, it helps to create saliva, it aids in digestion, etc.
