Hint:Negative acceleration is a highly confusing term. When we talk about acceleration we mean that the speed of the body keeps on increasing. Similarly, a body which is moving at a high speed, starts to decrease its velocity at some rate then the acceleration of the body is said to be negative.
Complete step by step answer:
Negative acceleration is also termed as retardation. Some examples of negative acceleration from our daily lives are:
(1) If we throw a ball with some initial velocity towards the sky, then the body goes up and attains a particular height and there it stops for a while and then comes back to the earth. During its motion from the earth to the topmost point, the acceleration of the body is negative, directed towards the ground and is constant.
(2) Another example can be a moving object is losing speed continuously with time, the motions are in negative acceleration or deceleration or retardation. In this, the value of negative acceleration is not constant but keeps on changing.
Note: Acceleration is a vector quantity and is defined as the rate of change of velocity. The change can be either positive or either negative. When the initial velocity is lesser than the final velocity, then the acceleration is said to be positive. When the value of the final velocity is lesser than the initial velocity, then the acceleration comes out to be negative and if the value of final velocity is equal to initial velocity then acceleration is zero.
