Hint: The largest phylum of the animal kingdom is arthropods. The phylum includes animals like insects, millipedes, crabs, etc.

Complete answer:
To understand the phylum arthropoda we must know which animals are included in this phylum. The animals like lobster, spider, crabs, centipedes, insects, millipedes, etc are from this phylum. About 85 percent of the species of animal kingdoms are from this phylum.
The species of this phylum are found in all types of habitats due to their adaptation capability. The features that make them different from other animals are: their jointed skeletal outer cover that is made of chitin; they lack locomotory cilia because of the presence of exoskeleton; they have segmented body and possess bilateral symmetry, that means the right and left side of the animals if divided in half look same. They have jointed appendages and due to this features they are named as arthropoda; derived from greek word arthro means joint and podos means leg or foot. The sensory organs of the animals of this group are very developed. They have a ventral nervous system i.e., the nervous system is found in the front instead of back like spinal cords of other animals. They have a simple open circulatory system. They reproduce through sexual reproduction process that is through gamete fusion. Most of them undergo internal fertilization. Some of the organisms of phylum arthropod are hermaphrodite as they possess both male and female organs.

Note: The arthropods do not have a closed circulatory system like us, they have a very simple open circulatory system. The blood is pumped by the heart to the front and then directly flows to the body cavity bathing the internal parts. The nervous system is also ventral, found in the front portion of the body.
