The crop is a type of plant that is cultivated on a large scale. Basically, crops are grown so they can be traded commercially.
Kharif Crops:
“Kharif” is the season that coincides with, beginning of autumn or we can say winter. cultivation of these crops happens in the monsoon season.Kharif crop is also known by the name monsoon crop. We sow the crop at the start of the monsoon season and it will harvest by September or October. Rice, ragi, maize, soybean,bajra cotton all come in Kharif crops.
Rabi Crops:
”Rabi”, means spring. These crops are harvested in the springtime hence the name is called spring. Rabi season generally starts in November till March or even April. Cultivation of these crops is mainly via irrigation as monsoons are already over in November. Wheat, mustard barely and green peas are some of the important rabi crops that are cultivated in India.
Zaid Crops:
Basically, Zaid crops are grown in between the Kharif and rabi season which grows on irrigated lands. Some of the examples are pumpkin and bitter gourd.
