Hint: India faced an attack from Pakistan in 1965. This was the time when India was still recovering from the Sino-India War of 1962 over the Tibet issue. Therefore, India was facing an acute shortage on the food grain front and the Indian army was hard at work to protect the country’s territory from border skirmishes. This gave rise to the slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’.

Complete answer: After the death of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru from the shock of Chinese betrayal and attack in 1962, India’s second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was elected to the office. Shortly after that in 1965, when Pakistan attacked India to take advantage of its vulnerable situation, Shastri Ji saw the need to motivate and enthuse the soldiers to fight on the border in difficult conditions. At the same time, to encourage the farmers to put their best effort to resolve the crisis of food shortage, he used the very famous slogan, ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ at a public meeting in Ramlila Maidan.

Let's look at other options;
Option A- Jawaharlal Nehru’s most famous speech is ‘Tryst with Destiny’ which was delivered on the midnight of 14 August 1947 when India got its independence. His most famous slogan post-independence was ‘Aaram haram hai’ to motivate the people to work for nation-building. So this option is incorrect.
Option B- Lal Bahadur Shastri gave the slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ to motivate the soldiers and farmers of the country. So this option is correct.
Option C- ‘Garibi Hatao’ was Indiara Gandhi’s most famous slogan and the agenda for her 1971 election campaign.
Option D- Rajiv Gandhi is most famous for the computerisation in India. His most famous quote was ‘India missed the Industrial Revolution, it cannot afford to miss the Computer revolution’.
So, Option (B) is the correct answer.

Note: ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ has been added upon by other leaders and visionaries in India. Atal Bihari Vajpayee said ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan’ in 1998 after the Pokhran tests. Sunil Bharti Mittal added ‘Jai Vidwan’ to the slogan.
