Sodium carbonate is found in many hydrated forms most of them are white in color which is soluble in water which yields an alkaline solution in water. Sodium carbonate is generally extracted from the ashes of wood that’s why it is also known as soda ash.
Distilled water is the purest form of water in which no ions are present and we get the distilled water from the distillation process. Hence we can easily dissolve the sodium carbonate in distilled water as it is soluble in aqueous solution and when we dissolve it in distilled water then sodium bicarbonate gets dissociate into ions known as cation and anion and the reaction can be shown as follows:
$N{{a}_{2}}C{{O}_{3}}+{{H}_{2}}O\to 2N{{a}^{+}}+C{{O}_{3}}^{2-}$
Here the ion which is positive in charge is cation and ion which carries negative charge is said to be anion. Hence we can say that sodium bicarbonate can be easily dissolved in distilled water as it dissociates into ions.
