Hint: The departments under the Central government have been asked to take on the responsibility of keeping their premises clean. A nationwide campaign was undertaken by the Government of India in 2014.
Complete Step by Step answer: The full form of SBM is Swachh Bharat Mission also known as Swacch Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) or Clean India Mission. It was started in 2014 by the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The goal was to do away with open defecation and improved solid waste management. The Mission was divided into 2 parts. The first phase included the elimination of open defecation and manual scavenging by 2nd October, 2019 which would also mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Phase 2 will be implemented between 2020-2021 and 2024-25 aimed at improving the management of solid and liquid waste. This drive marked the largest cleanliness initiative by the government where almost three million employees and students took part. In India the highest number of people are found to be defecating in the open . To prevent this practice, under the Swachh Bharat Mission the government provided assistance for the building of 110 million toilets between 2014-19. There were other cleanliness campaigns which had been held previously but had little success. A campaign called Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan was launched in 2012 which had limited impact.
Note: Swachh Bharat Mission aimed at creating 90 million toilets at a cost of Rs 1. 96 lakh crore. Every family that builds toilets gets Rs. 12,000 from the government as an incentive . While writing do not get confused with State bank of Mauritius which is also known as SBM.
