Complete answer:
The foundation of Harmandir Sahib Ji was laid in 1588 A.D. by Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The foundation stone of the Gurudwara was done by a Muslim saint whose name was Hazarat Mian Mir Ji in December on 1588. The whole construction work was looked after by him.
In 1581, Guru Arjan Dev Ji became the fifth Sikh Guru of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism. He followed the footsteps of his successor as well as his father, Guru Ram Das Ji and so he was considered as the first Sikh Guru to be born into a Sikh family.

The word Harmandir is known as "Home of the God". Shri Harmandir Sahib Ji is also known as the Golden Temple because it was made from pure gold foil all around. The Gurudwara of Golden Temple is open for people of all religions. People from every corner of the country cane every year to visit it with a hope of faith in them.
