Hint: The first sheep cloned was in the year 1996. The technique used was DNA cloning. In addition, the name of the sheep began with the letter D.

Step by step answer:Dolly was cloned from a cell of mammary gland taken from an adult Finn Dorset ewe. A team of researchers at Roslin created her by using electrical pulses. The pulses were used to fuse the mammary cell with an enucleated and unfertilized egg cell taken from another adult ewe. The fusion process happened due to the transfer of the mammary cell nucleus into the egg cell after which the cell started to divide. To ensure that the mammary cell nucleus was accepted and functional within the host egg, the cell was first induced to abandon the normal cell cycle of growth and division and enter a quiescent stage. To accomplish it the cell was deprived of nutrition. The importance of this step had been observed experimentally but a theoretical explanation for its necessity lacked. The process began with the collection of the mammary cell nuclei and the host egg cytoplasm from Scottish Blackface ewes. A number of fused couplets were successfully able to form embryos. The reconstructed embryos were then transferred to surrogate Scottish Blackface ewes. One of the thirteen recipient ewes became pregnant and the Dolly the sheep was born. The sheep came into existence in 1996.
So, option A is the correct option.

Note: Dolly remained alive and well long after her birth. She had a functional heart, liver, brain, and other organs. She was genetically similar to the ewe from which the mammary gland cell was taken. The technique used to produce her is now known as somatic cell nuclear transfer or SCNT. SCNT has been used since to produce a wide variety of mammalian clones, from different types of adult cells which are not very successful except when used for primates.
