Hint: To calculate the percentage of something we have to follow below instructions.
1. Determine the total or whole amount.
2. Divide the number to be expressed as a percent by the total. In most cases, you'll divide the smaller number by the larger number.
3. Multiple the resulting value by 100.
We already studied in school that x% of y is written as following equation
\[ \Rightarrow x\% \times y = \dfrac{x}{{100}} \times y\]
We apply the above mentioned equation in this problem by replacing values of variables with values in the question.
Complete step-by-step solution:
Here we consider value of x =8
Value of y =25
8% of 25
\[ = 8 \times \dfrac{{25}}{{100}} \\
= \dfrac{{8 \times 25}}{{100}} \\
= \dfrac{{200}}{{100}} \\
= 2 \]
Hence the value of 8% of 25 kg is 2kg
Note: Generally, in word percent per means each and cent means 100. The word percent means for every 100th part. Here in our question 8% of 25 kg means if 25 kg is considered as 100 parts, it is asked to find what will be the value of 8 parts amongst 100 parts of 25 kg?
The answer we got from the calculation is 2kg.
