The circumference of the Earth at the equator is 40,000 km. Earth completes one rotation in 24 hours. One hour is equal to 60 min so 24 hours \[ = 24 \times 60 = 1440\] min
Speed of rotation \[ = \dfrac{{Distance}}{{Time}} = \dfrac{{40,000}}{{1440}} = 27.7\] approx.
So, the Earth rotates approximately 27.7 kilometres in one minute at the equator.
Note: The rotational speed of Earth at the equator is 27.7 km/min. As we move closer towards poles, its speed decreases. The seasonal variation and day and night phenomenon in the earth is due to deviations in the angle of inclination of the Earth.
