Hint: Grasslands is the type of vegetation which is covered by the grasses. These grasses serve as the food for the plant eating animals and also it covers the soil to prevent erosion. These are classified into tropical, temperate and steppe grasslands.

Complete step by step answer:
Forest lies in the areas where there is more rainfall and moisture and the desert lies in the region of very low rainfall. Grasslands lie between these two vegetation and have moderate climatic conditions. It serves as the habitat for most of the animals and birds like lions, deer, bison, tigers, deer, rabbit, zebra, cheetahs etc. This area is mostly covered by the grass but has only few trees.

This tree helps in the hiding of the prey in order to protect themselves from predators like lions, tigers etc. But these trees are only few in number and so the prey has to run to very long distances to find it and hide. They have to run very fast to reach the safest place to hide from the predators. Thus, the speed is very important for the survival of the prey from the predators.

Note:
Red oaks, burr oaks, willow and the plains cottonwood are the commonly growing crops which grow near the river valleys in the grasslands. It helps in protecting the prey from other animals and also the habitat for many birds.
