Complete answer: Rolling topography is also a kind of topography. A place is said to be having a rolling topography if the land concerned is high, however, this land is not high enough to be classified as mountains.

The formation of rolling topography can happen through various reasons. One reason could be erosion. The surrounding areas could be eroded away by various agents of denudation, giving these places a relatively lower elevation. This gives the concerned area the appearance of a slightly elevated land. Another reason could be action of glaciers upon a place in such a way that rolling topography is formed. Eruption of volcanoes over time, and their flow and changes to the landforms can also be stated as one of the factors causing the existence of rolling topography.
