Hint:Our India has an exclusive network of inland waterways in the form of rivers and canals. The total length comprises 14,500 km, from which 5200 km of the river is used by mechanised crafts.

The Inland Waterways of India has comprises five inland waterways as National Waterways .they are as mentioned below:
1. National Waterway No.1: this (NW-1) waterway includes the Ganga Hooghly River System, which connects the Haldia-Allahabad. This waterway includes more than 1620 kms of the waterways.
2. National Waterway No. 2: The( NW-2) is another waterway which connects the Northern Eastern region with the Haldia ports and Kolkata as well, through Bangladesh and also with the Sunderban waterway.
3. National Waterway No.3 : The waterway was declared the National Waterway in the year 1993. It is considered as one of the most tourism potential areas over India and it has much to give to the potential tourists over the place.
4. National Waterway No-4:( NW-5) connects the states of Tamil Nadu ,Andhra Pradesh and Territory of Puducherry. It also includes Kakinada Puducherry stretches of the river Godavari and Krishna.
5. National Waterway No-5. It includes Talchur Dhamer area of the river Brahmana which swipes the area of the East Coastal Canal, Charbatia Dhamra the area of Matai river. It was in the year 2008 declared as a National Waterway.
Note:The inland Waterways Authority of India,which is also called (IWAI) in short , was built in the month of October in the year 1986 . At least 5 National Waterways have already been declared through the act of parliament.
