Hint: Global warming is the long-term heating of Earth's climate system observed since the pre-industrial period due to human activities, primarily fossil fuel burning, which increases heat-trapping greenhouse gas levels in Earth's atmosphere
Complete answer:
Global warming is basically a term used for the effect that, usually caused by gases like Carbon dioxide, Methane etc to keep the earth warm. But now as the emission of these gases increases the effect which was positive previously, has a negative impact as the temperature on earth is increasing year after year.
There are various causes of global warming. These are:
-Cutting of enormous plants of industrial use is known as Deforestation. It increases global warming as plants use carbon dioxide for photosynthesis but the reduction in number is a hindrance in the cycle.
-Rise in the concentration of greenhouse gases ($\mathrm{CO_2}$, $\mathrm{CH_4}$, $\mathrm{CFC_5}$, $\mathrm{N_2O}$).
-Burning of fossil fuels.
-The rise in industrial wastes and pollutants.
Global warming is a warning to mankind because (i) Rise in temperature is leading to increased melting of polar ice-caps as well as of other places like the Himalayan snowcaps. This will result in a rise in sea level that can submerge many coastal areas.
Deleterious changes in the environment result in odd weather and climate changes, e.g., EI Nino effect.
Note: Preventive methods for Global Warming:
-Planting more trees.
-Reduce wastes and promotes 3R’s, that is Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
-Conserve water and reduce the use of fossil fuels.
-Reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by not burning the wastes and other products.
-Try to walk to nearby places and avoid the use of vehicles instead.
