Hint: Nutrition is the process of obtaining the food that is necessary for health and growth. Nutrition means eating a healthy diet.
Complete Answer:
- The process of nutrition in which the animal completes its nutrient requirement by the absorption of simple organic material and dissolved salts present in the surrounding medium is called saprozoic nutrition.
- The process of obtaining nutrition by living on the body surface or inside the body of the other organism is called parasitic nutrition.
Saprozoic nutrition:
- Absorb nutrients from the external environment.
- No enzymes are involved in saprozoic nutrition.
- Some organisms of saprozoic can also show parasitism.
- Most of the protozoans such as amoeba show this type of nutrition.
Parasitic nutrition:
- It is a type of heterotrophic nutrition.
- The parasitic nutrition has a host and a parasite. The organism from which food is obtained is host and the other which obtains the food is parasite.
- The parasites get nutrition from the host.
- For example: lice, tapeworms.
- The host is usually harmed by the parasites.
Note: There are two types of parasites: Ecto and Endo.
- Ecto remains outside the body of the host like mosquitoes.
- Endo are those which remain inside the host body like tapeworms.
