Hint: Deccan plateau is a part of the peninsular plateau. This plateau is a large plateau which is located in western and southern India. This plateau rises to 100 m in the north and about 1000 m in the south. This plateau forms a raised triangle within the south pointing triangle of the coastline of India.

> This plateau is a table land which is composed of the old and crystalline, igneous and metamorphic rocks. This plateau is formed because of the breaking and drifting of the Gondwana land. Gondwana land was one of those plates which were formed after the breaking of the Pangea. The other part of Pangea was Laurasia.
> This plateau has many broad and shallow valleys. It is also equipped with many rounded hills.
> This plateau has been divided into mainly two broad divisions namely the central highlands and the Deccan plateau.
> The Deccan plateau gently slopes towards east and is higher in the west.
> The width of the central highlands is more in the west part and less in the east.
> The Aravali mountain range borders this plateau on the northwestern side and the Vindhya range and the Satpura range are other important ranges which are located in this plateau. This plateau is rich in many mineral resources like iron ore and coal.
