Hint: The surface area of any solid object can be defined as the measure of the total area of the object occupied. Spheres like the circle can be defined as the set of points which are all at the same distance which is said as the radius from the centre of the circle.

The surface area of the sphere can be defined as the region which is covered by its outer surface in the three-dimensional space.
In other words, the sphere is the three dimensional solid round shape which is just like the circle.
The formula for the total surface area of the sphere in terms of the pi is given by –
Surface area $ SA = 4\pi {r^2} $
Where, “r” is the radius
The same formula in terms of the diameter “d” is expressed as
Surface area $ SA = \pi {d^2} $
So, the correct answer is “ $ SA = \pi {d^2} $ ”.

Note: Do not forget to put the unit after the perimeter and the area value. Always remember the difference between the area and perimeter. Area is the inside space or the region whereas the perimeter is the outer edge or the surface. Area is measured in square units whereas perimeter in units such as meter, centimetre.
