Hint: In the English language, the word dwarf is used to denote a person with short stature. In addition, this condition occurs due to the lower secretions of a pituitary hormone.
Complete step by step answer: Dwarfism is a condition in which the growth of a person is stunted due to which his height remains short throughout life. However, the only physical growth is stunted. Mentally and emotionally a person is absolutely fine. His IQ level is perfectly normal. Also, he has normal sexual development and reproductive capabilities.
Reasons for dwarfism:
Dwarfism is caused due to the Hyposecretion of the Growth hormone. Hyposecretion refers to secretion below the normal optimum required levels of functioning. The growth hormone (GH) is also known as growth-stimulating hormone (GSH). It is also known as growth tropic hormone (GTH) or somatotropic hormone (STH). It is secreted from the Anterior lobe of the Pituitary gland which is also known as Pars Tubalis. Dwarfism is a condition that occurs in children only.
Note: Sometimes the deficiency of the growth hormone in children causes a condition known as Progeria. In the disease, the old age symptoms occur in the childhood stage. If the deficiency of growth hormone occurs in Adults, then it is known as Simonds’s disease. In Simonds disease, the old age symptoms occur at a young age. The skin starts to become puffy and dry. The hair starts falling. The body becomes very lean and weak. The basal metabolism rate (BMR) lowers.
