Hint Electroplating is the process of plating of one metal onto the other metal by the process called hydrolysis. Basically electroplating is used to prevent corrosion of metals like on iron taps we give them copper covering this process is known as electroplating.
Complete Step by step solution:
In electroplating current is introduced from an external source and anode is the positive electrode and cathode is negative electrode. Cathode is the electrode where the electrochemical reduction reaction occurs whereas anode is that where electrochemical oxidation occurs. The electroplating process uses an anode and cathode. In the electroplating process the metal dissolved from the anode is plated onto the cathode. The anode is provided with direct current which further oxidizes which dissolves its metal atoms in the electrolyte solution and at the cathode dissolved metal ions are decreased and the metal is placed on the product.
Electrolyte can be defined as that substance which produces an electrically conducting solution when it is dissolved in polar solvent.
Nickel electroplating is a process of depositing nickel onto a metal part and in the case of nickel electroplating aqueous solution of nickel sulphate is used.
Hence we can say that option C is the correct answer.
Note: Electroplating is generally used to prevent metals from corrosion other than this like improving wear resistance, improving the thickness of metal surface, minimize friction and increase the electrical conductivity.
