When the egg is on the second floor, it has a massive amount of potential energy stored in it. As it starts falling the potential energy tends to convert into more and more kinetic energy with the decrease in height of the egg.
Now, we know that
Work done = force $\times $ acceleration
But work done = change in kinetic energy
Combining these two statements, we understand that due to the changing kinetic energy of the egg, it exerts force on the floor. As an impact of this, the floor exerts an equal opposite force which breaks the egg due to Newton’s third law of motion.
To avoid this, we must put the egg in a container and cushion it properly with bubble wraps, newspapers or anything which would help it reduce the effects on it by the force exerted by the floor on it.

According to Newton’s third of motion, to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, that is, the forces of two bodies on each other are always equal and are directed in opposite directions. It also means that force cannot be exerted on a body without that body exerting back an equal amount of force but in the exactly opposite direction.
