Hint: An electromagnet is an arrangement which acts as magnet only when current is passed through it, if passing of current is stopped then the arrangement no longer behaves as magnet and also it stops producing the magnetic field.
Complete solution:
It is asked in the problem about the electromagnet formation with labelled diagrams.
If we take an iron material and then turn a copper wire around the iron material and after this we supply current through the wire and this formation allows the magnetic field to flow from the turned coils and the arrangement starts acting as a magnet. The electromagnet will lose all its magnetic properties if the current through the wire is not continued. The arrangement in which the turned coils are attached to the power source is known as solenoid and magnetic field starts to flow through the solenoid, one side of the solenoid become north pole and other south pole it is also a type is electromagnet but it not as powerful as the coils having the iron core.
After many experiments we came to know that the electromagnet having an iron core and that too soft an iron core will act as a very strong magnet. The electromagnets are used in motors and generators, due to the electromagnets only the motors in the motors are able to rotate. The electromagnets are also present in the loudspeakers and the headphones have the electromagnets, they start behaving as magnets if current starts passing through them.
The soft iron bar has a coil surrounded to it and the coil is supplied by the current through the cell and this arrangement is known as the electromagnet.
Note: The core material which is used in the electromagnet is preferred as a soft iron core because the soft iron core starts acting as magnet itself and therefore the magnetic field produced by the electromagnet becomes very strong.
