The human brain is divided into the forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain. The forebrain is the anterior part of the brain which covers the major part of the brain and it consists of olfactory lobes, cerebrum, and diencephalon. The olfactory lobe occurs inferior to the cerebral hemisphere which consists of the olfactory bulb and olfactory tract. Cerebral divided into frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes which contain motor area and sensory area. The diencephalon encloses a slit-like cavity third ventricle which consists of the epithalamus, thalamus, and hypothalamus. Inner to the cerebral hemisphere limbic system is present which is the component of the diencephalon.
Midbrain located between the thalamus of the forebrain and pons of the hindbrain. Midbrain divided into corpora quadrigemina and cerebral peduncles.
Hindbrain consists of the cerebellum, pons Varolii and medulla. The cerebellum is the largest part of the brain consisting of two hemispheres. It is surrounded by a grey matter cerebellar cortex which consists of flask-shaped complex neurons Purkinje cells. Pons varolii lie above the medulla oblongata and it consists of nerve fiber which interconnects the cerebellar hemisphere and medulla. Medulla obligates lie to the posterior part of the hindbrain and it connects the spinal cord and various parts of the brain. Most of the sensory and motor fibers lie at medulla oblongata, the lower end of medulla oblongata passes into the spinal cord.

Note: The midbrain along with pons Varolii and medulla oblongata constitute the brain stem which includes the area between the thalamus and spinal cord. Any damage in the brainstem causes brain death which causes the death of a person.
