Hint:Ganga and Yamuna rivers are considered among the holiest rivers in India, according to the Hindu religion. There is a very famous city on the confluence of these rivers, where Maha Kumbh Mela is organized every twelve years.

Complete answer:Rivers are considered as lifelines of a country. Since ancient times, every major town or city has been set up in close proximity to a river. Rivers provide water for agriculture and domestic consumption. They also play a big role in the fertility of nearby arable land. Great Indian Plain also referred to as Indus-Ganga Plains, is a very large floodplain created by river systems of Ganga, Indus, and Brahmaputra. It stretches from Pakistan in the west to Assam in the east, running almost parallel to the Himalayan mountain ranges. The Ganga river system holds a very special place in Hinduism. Many of the holiest places in India are on the banks of this river and its tributaries. Ganga begins its journey from Gangotri glacier near Gaumukh mountain (3,900m) in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Its journey ends in the Bay of Bengal, but along the journey between these two places many rivers merge with Ganga. Among the tributaries of the Ganga river, the Yamuna river holds the highest place in regard to the holiness of a river. It originates from the Yamunotri glacier (6,387m) and merges with the Ganga river in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

Note:The previous name of Prayagraj was Allahabad. It has changed in the past few years. Major tributaries of river Ganga are Ramganga, Gomati, Ghaghara, Gandak, Kosi, Mahananda, and Son.
