How does the respiratory system work with the muscular system? Would it be possible for respiration without muscle function?

Hint: The network of organs and tissues which helps in breathing is known as the respiratory system and the organ system which helps in the movement of the body and maintaining the posture is known as the muscular system and these both the systems work co-dependently with each other.

1)Gas exchange is the characteristic that defines the term respiration and firstly, this gas exchange occurs at alveoli in the lungs. In humans, normal breathing relies on the process called negative pressure inhalation.
2)To pull the air into the lungs, contraction between the ribs takes place by the external intercostal muscles which increase the volume of the pleural space to increase, therefore, pressure in this space will drop with an increase in volume.
3)In the lungs, pressure in the pleural space is less than the atmospheric pressure so the air which is in the outside will rush to the lungs and exhale, relaxation of the external costal muscles will take place and then with the decrease in the volume pressure will also increases which lead to the exhalation of air from the lungs.
4)This is the way, where the respiratory system works with the muscular system
Note: Oxygen is required by the muscular system which is brought from the respiratory system to act as the final electron acceptor in the process of oxidative phosphorylation and the muscles without oxygen would not be able to produce enough ATP which helps in contracting and functioning properly.
