During the digestion of fat molecules, fats are broken down partially to free fatty acids and molecules with one, two, or three attached fatty acids called monoglycerides, diglycerides, and triglycerides.
The process of fat digestion takes place in a stepwise manner. The large fat globules are broken into smaller ones by the bile juice secreted by the liver. This process is called Emulsification. This increases the surface area of the lipid molecules which are then enzymatically digested by lipase to yield monoglycerides and fatty acids, both of which can efficiently diffuse or be transported through the enterocyte into the blood circulation.
The digestion of certain fats begins in the mouth, where short-chain lipids break down into diglycerides because of lingual lipase. The fat present in the small intestine stimulates the release of lipase from the pancreas, and bile from the liver enables the breakdown of fats into fatty acids.

-Intake of food from the mouth to the stomach and into the small intestine where it is digested.
