U.S constitution's fourteenth amendment provides for equality to all the born and naturalized US citizens and prohibits any kind of discrimination on the grounds of race, money, social status, etc. However, it is pointed out time and again that the death penalty is given to the citizens who are black and of the non-white race relatively more and the accused who are financially strong can escape the punishment. Hence this violates it.
Section B of the amendment provides that the state can not make any law that abridges the rights and privileges of people. Section C of the amendment guarantees that citizens shall not be denied their freedom to life and liberty except under the due process of law. Capital Punishment condemns the human rights that every citizen possesses as well as takes away the freedom of life guaranteed by this amendment.
