The WBCs are involved in the defence system of the body which kills the disease-causing pathogens that intrudes the immune system. For killing the harmful pathogens, the white blood cells have to make way to the infected tissues by migrating through the blood vessels. WBCs have pseudopodia using which they move and engulf the disease-causing pathogens by phagocytosis. That is the reason white blood cells need mobility to reach the infection site or infectious tissues and eliminate the disease-causing microbes from the body.
